Wish Upon a Star

life, poetry, seasons

Gazing out my window at the orange and yellow leaves,

a reminder of the soon barren trees.

The seasons of life is a message to us all,

that our time here is short as the Autumn and Fall.

If we could truly wish upon a star,

my wish would be for all a tender heart.

To remember we are as fragile as the wind,

and not many days for relationships to mend.

A kindness today is a seed for tomorrow,

the budding leaves of Spring is right around the corner.

Our thoughts and words have great power,

they bring to life both good and sorrow.

Be a blessing where you can,

in return for your own helping hand.

For what we think we do create,

this life on earth is what we make.

      More oft than not we take Mother Nature and her goodness for granted. Only, when she shows us that we are, does she show us we need to be appreciative of life's every day. May you have a good Thanksgiving and enjoy the little things that you and all have been blessed with.

      Elaine, your poem is oh, so very beautiful, and so very true.

      As those above, the verses that remind of us of how very fragile we are --how very vulnerable we are-- that as much as a tender heart is desired, --the fury, the rage, the wrath of life is always at our heels.

      Yet, no matter what, we have choices and our free-will - "life is what we make." We 'create' life - we just don't always 'see it.' ... :)

      CL1, how very true that fury, rage and wrath of life is always at our heels. I'm reminded of the last lines in the movie The Passion Of Christ: "it is easy to love those who love us, but can we love those who hate us?" I once had a little plaque on my wall that said:

      There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer;
      no disease that enough love will not heal;
      no door that enough love will not open;
      no gulf that enough love will not bridge;
      no wall that enough love will not throw down;
      no sin that enough love will not redeem...
      It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble;
      how hopeless the outlook; how muddled the tangle; how great the mistake.
      A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all.
      If only you could love enough you would be
      the happiest and most powerful being in the world...

      Hi Elaine,

      You must be one of my:

      Lilies Of The Field

      Along the fence and furrow sprung
      through broken, sunlit wield;
      On rays that hang like stri'ped tongue,
      Stand lilies of the field.

      Where long in hope, on stems of green
      Their essence is concealed.
      They could not linger more serene
      As lilies of the field.

      With humble grace where pathways verge
      And ask of hopes are sealed;
      Their inspiration fills the urge,
      These lilies of the field.

      They have no will to toil or spin,
      Yet still, their fate's revealed.
      No bounty sought, or bread to win
      Need lilies of the field.

      Why take up thought for nourishment
      When God's hand sparks the yield?
      Does man need more encouragement
      Than lilies of the field?

      How is The Wacky Wabbitt doing? After my last computer died I lost my log on over there and I am not going anywhere near facebook. That place knows way to much about me already and I have articles that have to really make some powerful people angry.

      My ocean conservation fraud article is going to point the finger at a group that has the head of the CIA as a member. No good..): Hence I don't want too many connections to my family on the net. Everyone already knows where to find me. JJ

        Hey JJ, theaftervine.com is rolling along nicely. I think if you tried to log on, it will re-send your log in info to your email address. You know, it's funny you mentioned FB because I was thinking I wished you were there and started a group for fishing friends. Here's what I discovered about FB. My kids were asking me to log on to FB and I really didn't want to and wasn't that interested because I can talk to them on the phone and by email etc. But I wanted my neice's email address and my daughter said she's on FB, so I logged on and found her email. I wasn't used to FB at first and when a few of my ex-inlaws photos popped up as possible 'friends' I thought, "oh hell no, now I know I'm not interested in FB!!!"

        Then I got a request from a NV friend to join a group on FB so I went back over there to check it out and it's been a blast ever since. I learned I didn't have to "friend" the ex's and almost all the friends I have on FB are NV friends. I have really enjoyed the groups I'm in on FB and it's cheered me up because I found NV friends who were banned and I was really happy to see them again. It's a real drag to have NV friends you enjoy and then they get banned over an "incorrect tag" or something dumb like that, and then you never see them again. I almost left NV several times just because it was so depressing. So now, I don't spend much time in NV groups anymore after I discovered NV staff read private group conversations and passes the info along to favored Viners. FB has been very freeing because anything said in the FB private groups stays private and no NV rules apply there. I like it!

        That's what made me think of you and the fishing friends. If you started a private FB group and invited them all there, you guys could easily strategize, save docs on there, plan articles for NV or for the newspapers and town hall meetings etc. I've learned alot about how helpful FB can be. Now I'm on there everyday, checking in to see what we're all doing and talking about etc. You could think of a cool name for your group and make it a private group so that only your members can see any comments. It's a meeting place where you can all check in and see what's up and what everyone is doing. The comments flow along instantly and it's completely different from trying to communicate on NV or even on email.

        So anyways, I just wanted to tell you about all that in case you might want to start your own group over there. Mrs D and I are both on FB and I know we'd love to be in your group there.

        Elaine- Someday I will join facebook. I have some very controversial articles to write and do not prefer my families information in the public eye. My latest article series puts me in the odd position of criticizing some of the most wealthy and influential people in the land. Somebody has to do it.......they singled us out as a people and decided to subjugate us just like the American Indians.

        Some of them fought back too, that didn't go very well for them but at least the ones who resisted got to be who they were. JJ

        They never bowed down to the powers that be and that is a true American tradition.

          Oh....I get where you're coming from. Hey....go for it JJ.....it has to be done. I think it's terrible our fishing community has been reduced to political activists who have to fear for their family's safety for speaking the truth, instead of happy fishing families as they have been for hundreds of years. I just don't understand what the hell is happening in this country. I'm proud of you JJ.

          Elaine-

          What is happening in this country is the theft of all American resources by the wealthy. I know people want to believe that we have fair competition in the US but that really isn't true.

          The US is like playing a game of monopoly with a banker that is able to reach into the till and take as much as they want.
