I sincerely want to know the details behind that one. Rebecca and I each have an account. We didn't get banned when she was living at home.

And this has happened once before that I know of. Newsvine had to swallow their mistake and reinstate the couple.

I though couples could each have their own account as long as they both had separate email accts. At least that is what they told dowser. My head hurts.

that was what I thought as well but I guess they told us wrong as that is why they banned Chris and why they will ban me if I let the wife join up like she wants

Know what I'd like to see? I'd like to see a definitive article...from Newsvine...detailing just exactly what they base their decisions on for multiple account usage. What do they look at? What factors go in to it? What is their S.O.P. for verification of what's being claimed over what they suspect? Of course, I'm assuming there even is a standard operating procedure.

A protocol was layed out for this exact situation over a year ago. It was put in writing, by Tyler. I want to know if it was followed in Chris's case or not.

It's a shame that you're not who you say you are, because I'd be happy to see a 'right black woman' on Newsvine. But we'll have to wait for one that isn't another user.

I apologize to RightBlackVoice and The Capitalist, who shouldn't have been banned in the first place and should have been re-enabled sooner.

Obviously, I thought I was justified in what I posted/did earlier, but I wasn't. RBV and TheCapitalist are using the same computers, but they've provided more than sufficient evidence that they're two different people.

Clearly, I need to rethink my multiple account protocol - there isn't much precedent in my tenure, but from now on, when I suspect active contributors [not spammers] of being the same user, I'll have to contact them and hash it out before I take disciplinary action.

While I can't give you two the time you missed on the Vine back, you can expect an article next week assessing what happened - and why I'll try my best to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I don't remember exactly where it was in that huge 'fix newsvine' thread, but Viki mentioned that Tyler is out of town until Monday. That could be the 'why' on the delay.

Just out of curiousity, do you know the screen name his wife was using? Or were they both using the same one?

Hey Pat, no, I didn't ask Chris what his wife's screen name is. My impression is it's the same email and computer, two different Vine names. The same email could be the problem

I may have missed it, but I don't even recall seeing anything in the user agreement that says each family member has to have a different e mail account.

i would never share email it is so easy to set up your own and its free.

Could it be something as simple as NV not knowing Chris was married and his wife was an active user?

Rebecca and I shared the same computer, and for a time...even the same e mail address..before she shipped out. All I had to do was shoot Tyler a quick note that said..."Hey...my daughter has a newsvine account, her screen name is Rebecca N....didn't want it to look like I had multiples."..He said "no problem...thanks for letting him know"...and that was the end of that.

I just noticed over on the old 'Does Not Compute' thread that I dug up earlier... (re: the previous time this happened to a couple)...that Tyler is going to look deeper into the issue with Chris. That's excellent news!
